Generic Keflex belongs to a group of medicines so called as cephalosporin antibiotics. It helps with treatment of such infections as skin infections, ear infections, infections of the oral cavity and the nasal airway, bones and joints, urogenital organs (including prostate, pyelonephritis, cystitis, epidimit, urethritis, endometritis, vulvovaginitis, gonorrhea), otitis media, sinusitis.

Generic Keflex is a medicine with the active ingredient Cephalexin that belongs to a group of medicines so called as cephalosporin antibiotics. Those antibiotics kill bacteria in the organism by interfering with cell wall formation of bacteria and causing it to rapture. Generic Keflex helps with treat of such infections as skin infections, ear infections, infections of the oral cavity and the nasal airway, bones and joints, urogenital organs (including prostate, pyelonephritis, cystitis, epidimit, urethritis, endometritis, vulvovaginitis, gonorrhea), otitis media, sinusitis.
Generic Keflex should be used to treat infections that are surely caused by bacteria, another way drug-resistance development and efficiency of antibiotics could be reduced. Such antibiotics as Generic Levaquin 250mg and Generic Zithromax 250mg could be also prescribed for treatment of bacterial infections
Generic Keflex dosage is 250mg, 500mg and 750mg pills. Day intake is usually 250mg every 6 hours. If you have skin infections, uncomplicated cystitis or streptococcal pharyngitis, the dose is 500mg every 12 hours. For children the dose is divided into 25-50mg every 12 hours. The dose could be doubled if you have some severe infections. Generic Keflex can be taken in with a glass of water or dissolved in a two spoons amount of water and drunk, but don’t chew a capsule.
You should consult your doctor for use of Generic Keflex if you have kidney or liver disease, diabetes, stomach or intestinal disorder, allergy reactions on drugs or if you are malnourished. It is contraindicated to use Generic Keflex with analog antibiotics (Fortaz, Ceftin, Suprax, Omnicef, etc.) or if you have allergy on its components. When you are pregnant or in lactation period, the intake of the drug is permitted only if benefits of treatment outweigh the risk to your child.
Contact your doctor if you noticed the presence of those side effects:
- nausea, diarrhea, vomiting
- vaginal itching or discharge
- weakness, dizziness
- pale or yellowed skin, dark colored urine, fever
- confusion, agitation, hallucination and others
Do not treat side effects as diarrhea with other medicines. If you missed a dose, you should take it as soon as you remember or just skip it and take the next dose in time, but don’t intake a double dose. If you got overdosed, contact a poison control center or emergency.
